High Profile White Collar Partner Peter Zeidenberg Joins Arent Fox

Washington, DC – Arent Fox LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its White Collar & Investigations practice with the addition of partner Peter R. Zeidenberg. A well known litigator with more than two decades of experience at the Department of Justice and in private practice, Mr. Zeidenberg will work out of the firm’s Washington, DC office and focus on defending companies and individuals in white collar criminal matters involving internal fraud investigations and corporate governance.

“Peter is one of the most talented white collar attorneys in Washington and has a track record of doing standout work,” said Managing Partner Matthew J. Clark. “As a result of client demand, the continued growth of our white collar group has been a focus for the firm. Peter will be a great addition to an already impressive team with deep government and private practice roots.”

Mr. Zeidenberg was previously a partner at DLA Piper, where he provided counsel on investigations and criminal defense, including trials, to companies and individuals. He routinely conducts internal investigations and counsels companies and organizations that are responding to government enforcement threats. His work includes grand jury investigations, administrative subpoenas, and Congressional investigations. Mr. Zeidenberg also has extensive experience providing counsel on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), criminal antitrust, government contracting, procurement fraud, and financial fraud. His clients include foreign banks and international corporations, as well as individuals accused of fraud, conflict of interest, and insider trading.

Notably, Mr. Zeidenberg recently won dismissal of all charges lodged against an individual in connection with a so-called “Shot Show” FCPA sting case, in which the Justice Department alleged that 22 defense contractors had paid bribes to an African defense minister in connection with the sale of military hardware; he secured acquittals on obstruction of justice and conspiracy charges lodged against a former federal law enforcement agent in the Eastern District of Virginia; and he represented the president of a Fortune 500 company faced with allegations of insider trading that resulted in no charges being filed.

Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Zeidenberg spent 17 years as a federal prosecutor at the Justice Department, where he served in both the Public Integrity Section of the Criminal Division and at the United States Attorney’s Office in the District of Columbia. Mr. Zeidenberg received his JD cum laude from Boston College Law School.

Arent Fox’s White Collar & Investigations practice is recognized by Chambers USA for its “success” counseling high profile clients and “tremendous” recent growth. The group offers extensive experience in the high-stakes representation of corporations, executives, managers, and public officials. The team routinely works on both internal and external investigations surrounding potential allegations of corporate misconduct and personal criminal liability involving securities law, banking, financial services, accounting and all matters relating to kickbacks, bribery, and corruption.
